Spring is here – five ways to celebrate March
March is a delicious month; you can just feel the shift in the energy and the air! March brings with it the beginning of spring. It’s a time of new growth, blooming and fertility. To help you celebrate and embrace this new season of life here are five ways to celebrate March.
1) Get into nature
All around us is new life. Trees and flowers are blooming, the sun is making more of an appearance and there is freshness in the air. We can learn some of our greatest lessons from nature and nature right now is telling us that it’s time to create, grow, shine and blossom. Even if it’s just for a few moments a day get outside and connect to this creative energy that’s filling the air. Soak it into every part of you and feel the inspiration, new beginnings, life and courage that are coming from nature right now. Breathe in the fresh new air and know that new things are coming, spring is coming. Follow nature’s example and spring into spring.
2) Commit to moving your body everyday
Just as nature is waking from its winter sleep our bodies are doing the same and there is an increased need to move to get those energies flowing! Obviously I’m going to tell you to try and practice yoga everyday (maybe a 31 day challenge?!) whether that’s in a class or a self-practice. Maybe you need to mix up your practice with long walks in fresh air and nature and/or some cardio or weights training to really feel your body come back to life. Ultimately do what feels really good for you and watch your increased energy as you awaken your body into spring.
3) Do something which scares you
The birthstones for March are aquamarine and bloodstone, both stand for courage. So this month do something that scares you. It could be something huge like jumping out of a plane! Or just take small steps to overcome something that has been holding you back from moving forward, especially if all that holds you back is fear or doubt. Find that one thing that you would love to overcome, take a deep breath, seek inspiration from nature, find your inner courage and use the month of March to really help you to move forwards. You could always use one of these crystals to help you to find that extra little bit of strength.
4) Celebrate the women in your life
The 8th March is International Womens day so use this month to celebrate the women in your life. Your friends, sisters, mothers, daughters, wives, girlfriends, grandmothers, all those wise and wonderful women who make your life as special as it is. You could chose to gather together these special women together and celebrate being feminine, spend precious one on one quality time with your women or send those precious people in your life a card or little gift to let them know what they mean to you. Take some time this month too to really think about and celebrate what it means to be a woman.
5) Do a spring clean
This is the perfect time of year to cleanse your life. Usually we think of a spring clean as being throwing out old clothes or cleaning those hidden corners of your house, and this can have a tremendous impact on every part of our lives. It is said that out outer world reflects our inner so stands to reason that when we are hoarding, cluttered or in a mess on the outside the same is happening on the inside. As you cleanse your outer world you will feel a great amount of freeness and change on the inside too.
Bonus: Celebrate the Spring Equinox
The 20th March is the spring equinox and also a new moon, the power that comes with that! I’ll do a full blog on the equinox a little nearer the time (so make sure that you are signed up to my newsletter) but use this time leading up to it to really get clear on what changes you would like to see happen in your life and what you want this new season of life to bring you.
Strange fact: March was the first month of the year in the Roman calendar, making it the perfect month for all of these new beginnings!
